Fatal Tractor Trailer Crash on I-79

On Monday September 28, 2020 at approx. 2149 hrs., Pinch Fire was alerted by Metro 911 of a Tractor Trailer MVA that went over the bridge at the 7.5 mile marker on I-79 North. When crews arrived they found an accident scene approx. 100 feet over the bridge onto the hillside below. KCSO was tending to one occupant that was in the vehicle. Pinch Fire crews began to extinguish the fire that had began during the crash. With the help of Frame, Clendenin and The 130th Air Wing National Guard Fire Departments crews extinguished and searched for a second occupant of the tractor trailer. It was determined that the second occupant was entrapped and succumbed to his injures at the scene.
