| The second annual Fire on the Field Softball Tournament took place on Sunday, August 1st. As in the past teams from Pinch, Clendenin, and Frame VFDs participated. The first two games placed Pinch Team 1 in a 2 to 1 victory over Frame and Pinch Team 2 in a 14-7 victory over Clendenin. The game deciding 3rd and 4th place placed Clendenin in a 11-4 victory over Frame. At this point there was no doubt Pinch was keeping the axe, but pride was on the line, so the championship game had to be played. In the bottom of the last inning Pinch Team 2 pulled out a come from behind win, with a final score of 10-9. More importantly everyone had a good day of fellowship and team building, all with only minor injuries. A total of $345 was raised through the sales of donated Kroger Drinking Water and Giovanni's Pizza, as well as a boot drive. That money was donated to the Fallen Firefighter's Memorial Fund, in memory of Donnie Adkins. Thank you to everyone who came out in support of the Elk River Fire Departments! |
