Just before noon on April 4th two of our firefighters were heading to the Sanderson area to enjoy an afternoon riding there side-by-side, when they drove up on a passenger vehicle in a creek overflow/pond area. Water was noted to the roofline of the vehicle, with nobody around it. They were able to contact Metro 911 by radio and have Station 2 dispatched for a water rescue. Squad 2, Utility 29, and Boat 2 were enroute within minutes. After assessing the scene and donning appropriate PPE responders entered the water, made access to the vehicle, and determined that nobody was in the vehicle’s passenger compartment. The fire department remained on scene to assist Chamber’s Towing with recovering the vehicle. No injuries were reported.
