In the early morning hours of January 12th Pinch FD was alerted to a investigation of leaking propane. Prior to arrival Metro 911 updated the responding crews that a 1000 gal. residential propane tank had broken loose from its mounts on a hillside above the residents and rolled into the side on the home leaking propane. Upon arriving in the area utility 25 with a crew of 2 staged to reference the Emergency Responce Guide Book for evacuation perimeter for a large propane leaking. Moments after stopping a explosion was reported. Crews proceeded with caution to a vantage point that they could observe if the residential structure had indeed exploded and nothing but rubble was found with a large fire. The call was upgraded to a structure fire with Station 2, 34, 26 & 14 responding. The initial crew made contact with the family to confirm they had all evacuated and were accounted for. No civilian of firefighter injuries were reported and the scene was turned over to the WV State Fire Marshall.
