| Firefighters from around the state gathered at the State Capitol on Sunday, November 3, 2013 to remember the fallen firefighters who passed in the line of duty. Governor Tomblin issued a special proclamation declaring all state flags to be flown at half staff on Sunday.
Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper stated, "These firefighter brothers and sisters are truly today's gladiators. As everybody else is running out of the house fire and trying to get out of the swift water the firefigthers are jumping in and going in to see how they can help..."
Tower 2 had the honor of raising the colors along with truck 55 from belle volunteer fire department. Engine 23 also was in attendance, along with Malden, Davis Creek, Vienna, Van and many other departments. |
