| On Sunday, August 21, 2011 a band of strong evening storms rolled through the Clendenin area (just north of our area). The storms sparked several responses for the Clendenin Volunteer Fire Department including: a motor vehicle crash, lines down, and a box alarm at Clendenin Elementary. As the first units marked on scene at Clendenin Elementary they reported smoke on the second floor. At that point the mutual aid structure fire response was requested, which is an additional engine company from both Pinch VFD and Frame VFD along with a special request for Truck 2. Truck 2 along with Engine 23 and Utility 26 responded to the scene and Rescue 2 staged at Herbert Hoover High School. The source of the smoke was determined to be a fire inside a HVAC unit in the basement. Extensive ventilation operations were required to remove the smoke from the structure. |
