By Captain Duane Legg
November 4, 2019

In the Early Morning hours on November 1, Metro 911 received a call regarding a home on fire with possible entrapment, in the Rutledge Rd area of our first due. Firefighters were already enroute to the stations as we had been alerted about 5 minutes earlier to a car crash with entrapment in the Elk River Rd N. area of our first due.

Engine 23, Engine 24 & Squad 2 responded to the fire. On arrival E23 advised that the home was on the ground, also that there was negative entrapment. Captain Legg established command. Malden Fire Dept. was also dispatched as part of our on going Mutual Aid for Structure Fires preplan. Engine 31, Utility 3 & Rescue 3 responded. Kanawha County Ambulance, Medic 94 responded as well

All companies operated on scene for approx. 45 minutes while the fire was extinguished and over haul was completed. all units returned to service with out incident
