Around 4:30am on Monday, December 12th, Pinch VFD along with Malden VFD and West Virginia Air National Guard Crash, Fire, Rescue units were dispatched for a reported structure fire on Hanson Hollow Road. Metro 911 updated units that the homeowner was out of the residence, however she was reporting her home was collapsing and a near-by neighbor's home was filling with smoke. With those reports, Engine 23 requested a second alarm assignment from Frame VFD and Clendenin VFD. Upon arrival Chief 3 advised a modular home had fire venting from the D-side and there was no exposure issues. Engine 23 and Engine 32 attacked the fire quickly with the assistance of Rescue 273. Additional engine companies shuttled water, as the hydrant was about a half mile away. The fire was quickly extinguished and much of the residence was saved. The fire appeared to start around the vent pipe of a Buck Stove, which the homeowner just installed. No injuries were reported.
